As you may be aware China Post does not publish detailed information about all new issues. For some issues very little information is available. I provide as much as I can find. This time the next eight issues, which covers the period from April to June in 2021.
2021-7: April 23 Journey to the West Monkey King, set of 4. The Monkey King is also called Monkey, Chinese name is Sun Wukong. He was one of the four travellers in the very famous 16th Century Chinese novel Journey to the West written by Wu Cheng'en. The novel commemorates, amplifies and fantasizes the long pilgrimage of the Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang / Xuanzang who went from western China to India and returned with hundred of Buddhist texts. Stamps are perf 13, syncopated, 38x50, Scott 4793 – 4796
2021 April 24 Tsinghua University, 1 stamp, Yuan 1.20, for the 100th anniversary. Tsinghua University is located in Beijing. It was judged to be the 14th best university in the world by QS World University Ratings for 2023. It has over 50,000 students including more than 15,000 doctoral students. It was founded in 1911 with money from the Boxer Rebellion reparations donated by the U.S.A. The university was originally designed to provide two years of university education in China to prepare students for a further two years of university in the United States. In 1925 Tsinghua University developed its own bachelor programs. The university's motto is "Self-Discipline and Social Commitment". Perf 13.25 syncopated, stamp 30x30, label 30x30. No China Post series number, Scott 4797.
2021 May 19 Famous sites in China, set of 6, Face values: 1 at Yuan 0.80: the mountains near Linyi (Shandong), 2 at Yuan 1: Sayram Lake (Xinjiang near Kazakhstan) and the Bamboo Sea near Yibin (Sichuan), 2 at Yuan 1.20: the Badain Jaran desert (North-central China) and the Saihanba National Forest Park (northern Hebei), 1 at Yuan 2: the Fragrant Hills near Beijing. All perf 13 syncopated, 40x30. No China Post series number, Scott 4798-4803.
2021-8: May 19 UNESCO World Heritage Fujian province, set of 4, all at Yuan 1.20. The four show round earthen houses at various locations: Zhencheng (built in 1912), Eryi (built in 1770), Tianluoken Tulou Cluster and Chengqi (built in 1709). Each one is identified by small characters at the middle of the bottom border. Tianluoken Tulou Cluster was originally built in 1796, destroyed in 1936 and rebuilt in 1953. These round houses are made of rammed earth reinforced with tree branches and bamboo. They are traditionally associated with the Hakka ethnic group. Syncopated perf 13, 50x28. Scott 4804 -4807
2021-9: 2021 May 21 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between People's Republic of China and Islamic Republic of Pakistan. China Post issued jointly a set of two commemorative stamps entitled 70th Anniversary of China-Pakistan Diplomatic Ties with Pakistan on May 21, 2021. The design of one of the stamps is Zhuhai Port (Guangdong) and the other Gwadar Port (Baluchistan, Pakistan). The set of stamps, in blue tones, displays the scenery of the two ports. The stamps are distinctively shaped, having the effects of waves rising and falling and flags flying. The stamps are designed by Ma Lihang and printed by Shenyang Posts and Telecommunications Printing House of Liaoning Province with offset printing technology. Each stamp has a face face of 1.2 yuan. Perf is 13, 50x39, Scott 4808 – 4809.
2021-10: June 1: Children's art: set of 3, 1 at Yuan 0.80, 2 at Yuan 1.20. Scott shows the main issue as a strip of three. Printed as four strips of three as a mini-sheet. Background elements on the border of the sheet are taken from all three designs. Perf 13.25 x 13.5, 28x39, Scott 4810a-4810c.
2021-11: June 12: Museum treasures: set of 4, value Yuan 1.20 each. Han Dynasty Silver Box (25-220), Tang Dynasty Glazed Jug (618-907), Five Dynasties & Ten Kingdoms Period Blue Glazed Pottery from Persia (907-979), Song Dynasty Blue-glazed Plate (980-1279). Perf 13 syncopated, 30x39, Scott 4811 – 4814.
2021-12: June 23: Winter Olympics 2022: China Post launched a set of four commemorative stamps and one miniature sheet for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 — Competition Venues. This is the first time the Winter Olympics have been in China. There were twelve events located in three competition zones Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou.
The Yuan 1.2 stamps show the Big Air Shougang, the National Aquatic Centre, National Ski Jumping Centre, National Sliding Centre. The Yuan 6 miniature sheet shows the National Speed Skating Oval. The stamps are designed in se-tenant block, with a curve running through them. To match the venue, the stamp in the miniature sheet is oval-shaped and ornamented with snowflakes on the decorative margins.
The stamps were designed by Guo Zhiyi and printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited with bi-color carving technology. The miniature sheet is jointly designed by Dai Sha and Guo Zhiyi and printed by Henan Posts and Telecommunications Science and Technology Co. Ltd. Fresnel lens micro-nano lithography technology is used for the miniature sheet for the first time. The engraving ink is made of special materials and full-colour night scene printing technology are applied to it. The stamps are perf 13.25 x 13 syncopated, 50x30mm. Stamps are Scott 4816 – 4819. Oval stamp in sheet is perf 11, sheet is 140x84mm, stamps is 110x62mm, Scott 4820.
