2022-7: China Post issued a set of 2 commemorative stamps entitled The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Youth League of China on May 5, 2022. The designs of the stamps are respectively named “Following the Party Forever” and “Pledging to the Party to Make My Country Strong”. The denomination of each stamp is 1 yuan.

Communist Youth League Communist Youth League

The Communist Youth League of China (hereinafter referred to as CYLC) is an organization of young people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The first National Congress of the Chinese Socialist Youth League was held in Guangzhou from May 5 to May 10, 1922.

The first stamp “Following the Party Forever” takes the Party emblem and the League flag as its main body. The second stamp “Pledging to the Party to Make My Country Strong” takes the emblem of the CYLC as its main body, complete with the figure “100” as well as the bullet train, rocket, skyscrapers and other elements.

This set of stamps is designed by Chang Shana and Zhang Lei. Chang Shana is a famous art and design educator, art designer and once the head of the former Central Academy of Arts Design. Zhang Lei, an associate professor of Tsinghua University, has designed many sets of special and commemorative stamps.

The stamps were printed by the Anti-counterfeit and Secret-keeping Technology Printing Company of Henan Province with the technology of offset intaglio. Each stamp is 40×30 mm, perfed 13. There are 12 on a sheet.

2022-8: China Post issued a set of six special stamps entitled Prosperous Suzhou on May 18, 2022. Design 1 has a face value of 0.80 yuan, designs 2, 3 and 4 a value of 1.2 yuan and designs 5 and 6 are 1.5 yuan.

The painting Prosperous Suzhou, ink and color on paper, 1,241 cm (40.7 ft) in length and 36.5 cm (1.2 ft) in width, is currently housed in the Liaoning Provincial Museum. The painting was completed in 1759 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong (1735-1796). Painted in hand scroll format, the entire piece vividly illustrates the urban life of Suzhou during the High Qing era, with thriving businesses, countless merchants and various goods. The whole scroll depicts the local conditions and customs in the southern regions of the Yangtze River in great detail, including the landscape of lakes and hills, cottages and gardens, city wall and gates, boats, towns and houses along the river and shops of all trades.

This set of stamps is designed by Xing Wenwei with a horizontal layout in order to showcase the exquisite and magnificent features of this old masterpiece painting. With simple and elegant overall design, the designer reproduces the artistic conception of the original painting.

This set of stamps was printed with offset printing technology by the Anti-counterfeit and Secret-keeping Technology Printing Company of Henan Province. Stamps are 80 x 30 mm with perforation of 13. A full sheet measures 190 x 235 mm. It contains 6 stamps each of Design 1 and 2 in the left panel, 6 each of Design 3 and 4 in the center and 6 of Design 5 and 6 on the right.

2022-9: A set of four stamps issued 2022 May 19 each with a face value of 1.2 yuan illustrating ancient towns in four of the eastern provinces of China. Stamps were designed by Yang Zhiying.. Each stamp measures 50 x 30mm. A sheet was also issued with sixteen of each design combined in one sheet measuring 240 x 150 mm. Stamps were printed by Beijing Postage Stamp Printing Works using offset and engraving.

The first design is of Yaoli town in Fuliang, province of Jiangxi. Fuliang is on the north edge of Jiangxi and has about 300,000 people, a medium-sized town in China. The second is of Longmen town in Fuyang, Zhejiang province. With about 8000 people this is only a village in China. The third design is Anhai town in Jinjiang, Fujian province. Jinjiang has about two million people and is on the coast of the Taiwan Strait. The fourth design is Nanyang town in Weishan, Shandong province. Weishan has less than one million people and is on Weishan Lake in southwestern Shandong.

2022-10: China Post issued a set of four stamps and one souvenir sheet to show Dongting Lake on May 28, 2022. Two stamps have values of 0.80 yuan, two are 1.2 yuan and the souvenir sheet has a face value of 6 yuan. Dongting Lake is in the north east part of Hubei province between Hubei and Hunan. It is China’s second largest freshwater lake.

This set of stamps was designed by Xu Li, vice president of the China Artists Association, with oil painting techniques to show the representative landscapes of the Dongting Lake. The first picture portrays the beauty and elegance of the emerald Junshan Island. The second is of the Lingyun Pagoda with wetland scenery including water plants as well as flying birds. The third picture depicts the Chengtoushan ruins with the oldest, best preserved rice paddy site of its kind in the world. The fourth picture displays the splendor of Sanjiangkou, Dongting Lake’s entrance into the Yangtze River, with many barges moving forward on the broad water. The souvenir sheet depicts a wide angle picture of Dongting Lake with the Yueyang Tower, the vast water and green trees that underscore the cultural heritage and breathtaking scenery of the lake area.

The stamps were printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited using offset printing technology. The souvenir sheet was printed with photogravure technology, making the colours even brighter. Pearlescent blue spot-color printing enhances the sense of reality and also aids anti-counterfeit efforts. Each stamp measures 50x30 mm with perfs of 13. A full sheet consists of 24 stamps, six of each design in two panels and measures 174 x 180 mm.

2022-11: China Post issued a set of 5 special stamps entitled We Grow Together, My Country and Me on June 1, 2022. The names of the designs are respectively Loving My Motherland, Studying Diligently, Pursuing Science, Developing Physical Prowess and Respecting Labor. The first two designs have a face value of 0.80 yuan, the last three are 1.20 yuan.

Based on the creative concept of unifying political character, sense of times and artistic quality, the special stamps We Grow Together, My Country and Me are planned by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), co-created by outstanding artists Kang Lei, Wang Zikun, Feng Xu, Kong Liang, Liu Qing from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), and designed by Hang Hai (also from CAFA). The five stamps are created with five artistic techniques: oil painting, traditional Chinese painting, digital painting, print and sculpture. Five different designs on five different background colors decorated with anthurium and other flower elements reflect diversified artistic styles while achieving overall unity and harmony.

The first stamp, Loving My Motherland, uses oil painting techniques for a scene of children saluting the national flag, with sunflowers in full bloom. The second design, Studying Diligently, depicts the image of a young pioneer who is studying hard and fully absorbed in her book. The third design, Pursuing Science, uses digital painting techniques to show a child in a spacesuit flying in space. The fourth design, Developing Physical Prowess, depicts an ice-skating child via print techniques with background elements of the National Speed Skating Oval, a reminder of the recently concluded Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. The fifth design, Respecting Labor, uses sculpture to portray two young pioneers planting trees in Spring.

The stamps are printed by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited with photogravure technology. The pictures are saturated in bright colors. On the sheet, gold spot ink is used to highlight the golden luster of the Tian’anmen gate tower, and pearlescent process to add texture to the picture, all of which create an image of children growing healthily under the sunshine of the Party in the new era. Each stamp is 40x30 mm and perfed 13. A sheet consists of ten stamps, 2 sets of 5 stamps in se-tenant style.

2022-12: On June 6, 2022, China Post issued a commemorative stamp for the 120th Anniversary of Southeast University. The denomination is 1.20 Yuan.

Southeast University

Southeast University (SEU), located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of six dynasties, is a prestigious institution of higher learning renowned both at home and abroad. SEU is one of the time-honored institutions of higher learning in China. Its origin can be traced back to 1902 when it was founded as Sanjiang Normal College. In 1920, it was named National Southeast University. In 1988, it was renamed Southeast University by the State Education Commission. It has trained nearly 370,000 outstanding talents for the country and society, and made significant contributions to the national and regional economic and social development.

This stamp is designed by Yu Qiuyan. The stamp features a hand-drawn view of SEU’s former auditorium above the image of an open book and the dates. Together the various elements highlight SEU’s long history and profound heritage.

This stamp was printed with offset intaglio technology by Beijing Stamp Printing House Company Limited. The laser carving lines enhance the 3D effect of the main architecture. Special UV gold ink makes the picture shine with metallic luster. Yellow, red and blue fluorescent inks make the university emblem and the anniversary logo become vivid and glittering under ultraviolet lights. Each stamp is 45x30mm and perfed 13. There are twelve stamps in one sheet.
